Sure, there are websites out there that churn through every snap to provide analytical assessments of players. And those numbers are great! In fact, we use those tools to cross reference our own Depth Anaytics scores. At Depth, each position has their own proprietary formula that each player is assessed through, so that every score is quantitatively consistent. Depth Perception Score

Numbers are great - but they seldom tell the entire story. I’m sure you’ve been on some of these analytical websites scratching your head about how a Pro Bowl caliber player is grading out so low, or how a special teams ace is grading out insanely high with limited play time. A lot of times, the data just doesn’t match the eye test, and also doesn’t take into account the athletic prowess or limitations a player has or how intangibly rich he may be when considering leadership and character traits. And thats why we average our Depth Analytics score with a Depth Perception score to make sure the data isn’t completely outweighed by the proof of concept. So how do we come up with the Depth Perception score? This is an internal score that the staff takes into consideration by utilizing conversations within player’s fanbases to determine how the player is perceived, as well as taking into account other cultural factors such as Madden scores.

Depth Overall Score

Depth Overall Score is an average of Depth Analytics & Depth Perception score and this is the final overall rating for each player that is included on the team depth chart. You will see that the Depth Overall Score is also in a color ranging from dark red (poor) to dark green (strong). The Depth Overall scores can be sorted into the following rubric:

95+ Generational Player

90-94 All-Pro Player

85-89 Pro Bowl Player

80-84 High-End Starter

75-79 Reliable Starter

70-74 Low-End Starter

65-69 Reliable Depth Piece

60-64 Journeyman

55-59 UDFA/Special Teamer
