Tacario Davis

Tacario Davis Player Progression

Summary

Tacario Davis (21 years old) is a cornerback who has played his first three years at the University of Arizona before transferring to Washington and rejoining Head Coach Jedd Fisch. As a Senior in Seattle, Davis played in seven games and tallied 19 tackles and 2 interceptions. Davis missed games in 2025 due to a rib injury — that occurred on a diving interception — and a hamstring injury. The Long Beach, California native allowed a 50.6 passer rating when targeted as a Senior. At Arizona, Davis was named Second Team All-Conference in both 2023 and 2024. A former three-star recruit, Davis has developed into a very impressive and physically imposing cornerback with his nearly 6’4” frame and 6’9” wingspan. Davis is a unique prospect with good production and tape throughout his career. Expect Davis to his name called somewhere in the 3rd or 4th round on draft weekend.

Strengths

  • Size and Length: Davis’ size, frame, and length are obvious but they are truly unique for the position. He stands roughly 6’4” and has arms that stretch over 33” long. When the Legion of Boom and Pete Carroll’s Seattle teams drew up cornerbacks, they looked like Tacario Davis.

  • Long Speed: At the Scouting Combine, Davis quelled any concerns about his long speed when he ran a 4.41. Davis shows the ability to open his hips, turn, and run with receivers vertically as well. I suppose it shouldn’t come as a surprise either, as Davis was a sprinter in high school on the track team at Millikan High School in Long Beach.

  • Zone Feel & Eyes: Davis shows tremendous comfort when his eyes are focused on the quarterback. He has shown the ability to quickly break on passes and make up any ground with his length, as he has been credited with 25 passes defensed in his college career.

  • Ball Skills: Early in the 2025 season, Davis was injured diving for an interception against UC Davis, but that play highlights some of his natural ball skills. At 6’4”, Davis has the build of a receiver and shows receiver-like skills to make plays on the ball in the air. Maybe this also should not be a surprise because he did play wide receiver in high school, as well as cornerback.

Weaknesses

  • In and Out of Breaks: This is a common knock on most tall and long-legged corners, as they aren’t always the smoothest mirroring receivers in and out of breaks. While he’s a very natural athlete, quicker receivers are likely to have the advantage once they get off the line of scrimmage.

  • Grabber: As a Senior, Davis was flagged for six penalties while only playing in seven games. It’s a habit that can be hard to break, but must be broken on Sundays as it is much harder to get away with grabbing and pulling receivers downfield as a pro.

  • Arrow Up or Down?: While he had a good season in 2025, Davis’ best season unequivocally came in 2023 at Arizona. Davis had 15 passes defensed and 1 Interception for the Wildcats. Since then, Davis has been good but has not posted the same production or built on his draft stock since his Sophomore campaign.

  • Lack of Versatility: Right or wrong, Davis is very likely to be typecast as a perimeter zone cornerback by many teams. Davis does have the size to eventually move to safety as well like other long-time cornerbacks (Rod Woodson, Charles Woodson, Jalen Ramsey, etc.). However, he will not profile as a corner with inside/outside versatility for most teams.

Outlook

Tacario Davis is an incredibility tall and long boundary corner with good long speed, impressive ball skills, and condor-like length. His best fit will likely be with teams that play mostly zone-coverage and allow him to play off the quarterback’s eyes. He won’t be a fit for every team, but certain teams will be very intrigued by his physical skills. Overall, Tacario Davis profiles as a potential starter at the NFL level who will be best used as a boundary corner who predominately is asking to play zone coverage. Expect to hear Davis’ name called in the first 100 or 125 picks in the 2026 Draft.
