Brandon Cisse

Brandon Cisse Player Progression

Summary

Brandon Cisse (20 years old) is a twitchy, competitive cornerback who began his college career at NC State (2023–2024) before transferring to South Carolina for the 2025 season, returning to his home state and stepping immediately into a starting role. In 2025, Cisse recorded 27 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1 interception, 5 pass breakups, and 1 forced fumble, serving as a versatile defensive back who aligned both on the boundary and in the slot while starting all 12 games. His production earned him All-SEC consideration and reflected a player trusted in multiple coverage roles despite modest ball production. An exercise science major, Cisse has been recognized within the program for his steady academic progress and commitment in the classroom while balancing a demanding role on defense. Cisse is widely viewed as an energetic, confident competitor with quick feet and fluid hips, though his evaluation includes some volatility in play style, with scouts noting occasional lapses in discipline and emotional reactions that can impact consistency. From an injury standpoint, Cisse has dealt with minor issues earlier in his career but still appeared in 34 career games, reinforcing general availability while leaving only mild durability questions.

Strengths

  • Supreme Athlete: Boasts a track background where he posted a 11.12-second 100m and a 22.09-second 200m in high school. This translated to a recorded 42-inch vertical and top speeds over 20 mph during his collegiate career, allowing him to contest late even when slightly out of phase. When beaten early, he has the speed to reattach vertically and stay in the play.

  • Press Disruption: When he lands his hands, he has flashes where he can knock receivers off their stem and force them wide.

  • Suffocator: Shows ability to drive and contest when playing with vision and demonstrates strong closing burst on throws in front of him. Ability to plant and go with explosiveness from his 40+ vertical is evident on tape.

  • Energizer Bunny: Competitive demeanor and stays engaged and doesn’t mentally drop after giving up a rep. Willing run defender who doesn’t miss many tackles when he gets in the mix.

Weaknesses

  • Spreading the Jam: When he misses his jam, receivers gain immediate leverage and force him into recovery mode. Can be influenced by stems and lose positioning when routes layer or break late.

  • Recovery Reliant: Often plays from slightly behind because he doesn’t consistently win early in the rep, going all in on his ability to hit top gear and accelerate into recovery mode quickly. Needs an extra step to flip and drive so quick-breaking routes create separation underneath.

  • Pincers: Uses length to recover but will reach instead of re-leveraging cleanly and grab receivers. Penalty risk. Gets into position but doesn’t always locate and play the ball cleanly on vertical throws.

  • Volatile: Flashes lockdown traits on some snaps, then gives up separation due to technique breakdowns on others. Very bull/bear corner who has high crests and low troughs.

Outlook

Cisse projects as a traitsy boundary corner with great top-end speed, physicality, and recover ability, giving him upside as an outside starter with developmental polish needed. He fits best in press-man and match-zone defensive schemes that allow him to use his length to disrupt releases and play aggressively through the catch point rather than sitting in soft coverage. To be perfectly candid, we are not very impressed by Cisse and have him as one of our bust label players. Consensus boards suggest Cisse is trending as a Day 2 prospect with a Round 2–3 projection in the 2026 NFL Draft to a team looking for a long, athletic corner who can develop into a reliable perimeter defender.
